INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS:
Please let me know if your child would like to partcipate in the individual cheerleader solo (tumble or non-tumble) $50, the individual stunt group competition (4-5 girls, all stunts) $125, the jump off (three consecutive jumps or series of jumps) $10, or the tumble off (best tumbling pass) $10.
Though the entry fees are a little steep, please note the the highest scoring individual and indi stunt group will win $500.

This Nationals competition gives bids to the US finals competition. http://www.theusfinals.com/AboutUSFinals.asp If we place 1st through 3rd, we will win a bid and can choose which US Finals location we would like to compete at (Vegas 4 17, Oklahoma April 17, Cincinatti April 24 and Virginia Beach May 1st).
Should we make it to the US Finals, there is a possiblilty of getting a bid to Worlds (which is exactly what it sounds like, an international cheer competition againsts teams from all over the world).

The Silver Hill BGC 14 and Under Squad won First Place at the All Capitol Spirit Championships this past Saturday, November 22, 2008.

$60 Due Friday, 11/21 for Nationals

Just a reminder that the $60 for Nationals is due at practice Friday (11/21).
Joe Corbis submissions will still be accepted until this Saturday, 11/22.
If you aren't participating in the fundraiser, the $60 for Nationals needs to be turned in no later than Friday (11/21) along with any remaining balance for banquet, snack, etc.

OUR NEXT PRACTICE AFTER COMPETITION WILL BE MONDAY, DECEMBER 1st. THE JOE CORBIS FUNDRAISER DELIVERY WILL BE IN 12/1 AT 6:15 SO PLAN TO BE THERE TO PICK UP YOUR ORDERS IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING.

Olympia Cheer and Dance Competition Saturday, 11/8

We will need to meet at Benjamin Stoddert at 7:30 am and leave no later than 8 am. Everyone needs to come fully dressed with hair done please. Make sure parents have map quest directions as well as any telephone numbers because we will pull of at 8 am sharp so that 7 and under can have a few minutes to get themselves together before they have to warm up.

Next weeks practice days have been changed to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (11/5-7) from 6:00-8:00 due to the election (Go Obama!).
EVERYONE needs to be there because we will have some position changes and additions to the tumbling sequence, etc.

11/2 PGCBGC Annual Cheer Competition

The Competition will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Cole Field House on campus of the University of Maryland (College Park, MD). It will begin at 11 A.M.
We will meet at the Burger King at 8 am to get ready and leave between 9 to 9:15 am. We have to give out bows, socks, tattoo and put make up on so PLEASE BE ON TIME!

Doors to the competition open at 10 am,
  • Entry costs will be $6 per person, aged 12 and over.
  • No food, drinks, or coolers will be allowed in Cole Field House.
  • Cheerleaders must have their sanctioned, laminated I.D. badge to compete. Each cheerleader will be checked against the roster prior to performance.
  • Only Coaches/Commissioners/Cheerleading teams will be allowed entry through the West Entrance (next to tennis courts). (Coaches/Commissioners must have a laminated badge to enter)
  • No camera/video equipment will be allowed. Professional pictures/videos will be taken. Videos will be on sale in the alcove.

Other information will be forthcoming as we get closer to the competition.

  • We are TENTATIVELY set to go on this Sunday at 1:40 pm. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE and the final schedule has not yet been released.
  • I encourage everyone to stay all day, if possible, to show support for the other squads as well.
  • The Awards ceremony will probably take place around 3pm. Plan to be there until 4pm. PLEASE NOTE THESE TIMES ARE ESTIMATES.

Practice and Show N Tell

  • Practice this week will be Tues -Thursday from 6:00-8:30, Friday 6:00-7:30, and Saturday 10:30-1:30 ALL at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School.
  • SHOW N TELL will be held Thursday at 7:30 pm. Please be there to support the girls and take a look at everything we've been working on all season.Girls need to bring their ENTIRE uniform (sans poms). Parents are asked to contribute $2.00 each TODAY, 10/28, to go towards the pizza, sandwhiches, and other refreshments.

10/24 Friday Practice and Practice Next Week 10/28-10/31 from 6:00-8:30

Competition Practice

I do apologize for the need to add additional practices and times, but our squad is nowhere near being prepared for competition in less than 2 weeks.

We will meet this Friday (10/24) from 6:00-8:30 at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. It is important for everyone to try to make it because we will pass out the competition uniforms this Friday along with shoes.

Additionally, we will extend practice next week Tues -Thursday from 6:00-8:30. Friday's practice on Halloween will still be from 6:00-7:30.

Lastly, we will meet from 10:00 am to 1:30 Saturday, November 1st (the day before competition) at the Blue House. Girls should dress warm, but in materials where they can perform full out (sweats, sweatshirts, long sleeves, layers, etc).

This Thursday's practice is canceled due to school closing.

It is very important that every member of the team attend because this is the only time we are able to meet with the safety judges and need to be able to execute every stunt sequence, some of which include every member.

Homecoming 2008 10/10-11/08


There have been several changes made regarding our upcoming homecoming pep rally and game this weekend, October 10th and 11th.

The Pep Rally will now be held at the Blue House at 7 pm, Fri, October 10th. The squad will meet at 6 pm.

The Homecoming game will now be played at North Barnaby (next to pool) and we meet at 8:20 am, Sat October 11th.

THURSDAY 10/2 Shoe Sizing and PARENT MEETING

Thursday, October 2, 2008 we will be holding a Parent Meeting at 7:45 pm at Owens Road Elementary School.

I want to discuss the Nationals taking place in February in Ocean City. We must discuss registration costs, lodging, and transportation. We will also discuss other team business and address any questions you may have.

Also, we will have a SHOE SIZING Thursday. The competition shoes, Zephz Butterfly, run rather small. I am asking that all returning cheerleaders bring their old shoes to practice so that the team can all try them on and determine sizes.

We will discuss funds for the Nationals in a few months. Each girl will be responsible for $60 dollars. This will cover registration, lodging, and food.

We will be departing Friday, February 27th and spending the night in Ocean City. There will be 2 adult chaperones per room and 6 girls. Please contact me early if you would like to be a chaperone. Some parents have already requested to be a chaperone. Chaperones will need to drive and transport squad members to and from Ocean City as well.

Hotel Information will be provided if some parents would like to stay nearby or you could also just come up that Saturday to watch the competition.

We are looking forward to another First Place sweep this year. I hope you all can be a part of it.

Competition Squad Tryouts

Competition Squad Tryouts will be held this Thursday, September 25th. Girls will perform all aspects of the competition routine (dance, cheer, transitions, stunts, tumbling, etc.).

For those who would like extra help or preparation, I will be arriving early at Hillcrest Heights Tuesday and Wednesday (9/23-24) at 6:10.

This is our largest tumbling class in the three years I have been coaching at Silver Hill. I am glad that you as parents see the importance of tumbling in cheerleading, as well as in making your daughters well rounded individuals.

We are practicing at the Blue House for at least another week. We are still waiting to get into the schools.

Parents please be there to pick up your Joe Corbis items this Wednesday (9/3) to get your orders between 6 and 6:45pm.

Captain Try-outs will be held this Friday (9/5).

Please make sure your child has red cheerleading briefs by Friday (9/5).

The football schedule will be released next week and I will post it here and email it as soon as I get it. I will also provide an updated calendar.

Many parents still have not submitted $10 for snacks. Please do so as soon as possible.
